Welcome to the London Exiles Mini-Rugby section.

The London Exiles RFC, established in 1989, is a SouthWest London rugby club based in Wandsworth, that plays its senior matches in Barnes and trains in Battersea Park.

The Mini-section is based on [Wandsworth Common] and is active on Sunday mornings from [9-11.30] am.

The aim of the Mini-section is to introduce rugby to younger children, to teach them the skills and enjoyment of the game and over time to instil the camaraderie and healthy respect and discipline that sets Rugby apart as a sport.

[The section is run under the regulations and requirements set out by the RFU and as required by safe-guarding legislation.]

[As a point of difference, we coach from within the Club and do not expect or look to enrol parents into being involved with training unless they specifically wish to. The coaches are all members of the Club, including first team players. In addition, they have all passed DBS checks.]

The Mini-section caters for the following ages groups at present, but is expected to expand as numbers increase. All age groups are mixed until [12 years old]. If the age group for your child is not below, please contact us to enquire about other age groups.

Group 1: Ages 5 - 7 years

Group 2: Ages 8 - 9 years

Group 3: Ages 10 - 11 years

Group 1 starts with tag rugby and fun games, drills and exercises. At each group stage different levels of skill and rules of the game are introduced and the rugby becomes slowly more sophisticated and closer to the adult game.

Player Welfare:

As a Club we take player welfare very seriously across all our sides. However, this is particularly the case at junior level. We seek to create an inclusive and safe environment at all sessions, maximising enjoyment and healthy exercise, whilst ensuring your child’s safety throughout.

At a junior level player welfare extends to the coaches monitoring all participant behaviour to ensure not just physical safety, but mental welfare and inclusivity. Bullying behaviour or any form of exclusion is not tolerated.

Whilst the Club cannot be responsible for any personal injury that may occur to participants during the course of the activities, we do nevertheless look to arrange the playing activities to avoid it.

Insurance:

The Club is an affiliated member of the Rugby Football Union of England.

As an affiliate member the Club and its officials are covered under the Combined Liability policy, that the RFU provides members with. It offers a selection of insurances, specifically designed to address the key third-party liability risks faced by a recreational rugby club (including the cost of legal fees).

The Combined Liability cover includes:

Public Liability Insurance - covering administrators, coaches, officials, referees or players.

As well as training for and the playing of rugby, any social, fundraising or commercial venture, organised by your club will be covered, unless it involves an activity that is specifically excluded.

The RFU also provides insurance in respect of the following:

Public/Products Liability

Professional Indemnity

Employers Liability

Directors and Officers Liability

This is a summary of the cover provided. For full details please refer to the cover schedule and policy wording. A copy of the policy wording is available on request.
